Providing the opportunity for children of divorce to experience hope, help and restoration!
As a Church concerned for children, especially those of families in crisis, we have instituted a program for children of separation/divorce entitled DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K). The goal of the project is to bring stability to the lives of these hurting children and, subsequently, these children will be able to grow and learn to their full potential.
DC4K meets on a weekly basis under the supervision of a caring, understanding and DivorceCare trained adult. The children learn how to cope with their emotional struggles and problems. In this confidential and secure environment the children can freely share issues that surround the divorce. The format of the program allows serious discussions as well as fun methods of presenting the material. The group meets in conjunction with the adult DivorceCare group with the desire to help the children and parent heal and become healthy.
Recently Bethel Temple has begun networking with other area churches that are also reaching out to the community using DC4K. Together we have developed a mission and vision statement that shares our heart:
OUR MISSION
To partner with teachers and parents as we embrace hurting children experiencing instability because of the separation and/or divorce of their parents.
OUR VISION
To see every school in the Chattanooga area covered with a DC4K program, hopefully by a neighboring church.
